Indian viewers might have to resort to other options to follow the ODI series in Bangladesh•Bangladesh Cricket Board

Lack of interest from Indian broadcasters could result in the three-match ODI series between India and Bangladesh that starts from June 15 not being available on television in India, the has reported. Bangladesh’s Gazi TV, which owns the rights for cricket in Bangladesh, had approached Star Sports and Sony Six.Star Sports reportedly made an offer of less than a million dollars (Rs 5 crore) for the three matches, which was deemed too little by the host broadcaster. Sony Six, on the other hand, didn’t show interest owing to a busy football World Cup schedule.”Star has offered a less than million dollars for three matches. That is too less in comparison to the cost of the rights,” Salahuddin Chowdhury, CFO and head of operations of Gazi Group, told . “Because of the BCCI’s problems with Neo and Ten, we can’t sell the rights to them. Unless, something dramatic happens over the next two days, I cannot assure you that the matches will be telecast in India.””There would be a lot of overlapping time between the World Cup matches and ODIs,” Prasanna Krishnan, the chief executive of Sony Six, told the . “We’ve a planned a few pre-match shows for the World Cup and we could not have spared our channel for cricket.”India has chosen to rest MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Ravindra Jadeja for the series.

-Me considero pronto, desde o começo do ano treinando forte. Estou pronto para ir para o jogo.Encaro como recomeço sim. Ano passado fiz sete partidas. Comecei jogando no Coritiba fazia quase 60 partidas no ano.

Hard-hitting Jesse Ryder scored a quickfire half-century to help Essex seal a home tie in the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals with a seven-wicket win over Glamorgan at Cardiff. After winning the toss the in-form South Group leaders restricted the home side to 157 for 2 before knocking off the required runs with 12 balls to spare. It was a comprehensive defeat for the Welsh county who could yet need to beat Gloucestershire in their final game next week to make the last eight. After being put in to bat on a slow pitch Glamorgan looked to have posted a useful total with Murray Goodwin, who made 71, and Jacques Rudolph, 60, putting on 104 in 11.2 overs. But Glamorgan were undone by the start from Ryder and Mark Pettini who made a dent in their chase by reaching 73 from the opening 33 balls. Tom Westley, with 44, and Ravi Bopara, an unbeaten 32, shared in a 60-run partnership for the third wicket to help Essex across the winning line. After a slow start Glamorgan reached 43 for 0 at the end of the six overs of the Powerplay. But on a typically slow Cardiff pitch the openers struggled to reach the boundary rope for 22 balls before captain Jim Allenby was caught and bowled by Bopara to leave Glamorgan 53 for one in the ninth over.Glamorgan had only reached 61 for 1 at the halfway stage but Goodwin, who was promoted up the order, gave the innings some impetus by hitting Ryder for a six baseball style back over the bowler’s head.Goodwin reverse-swept spinner Tim Phillips for four which brought up the 100 before hitting the offspinner over midwicket for six. The former Sussex man continued to accelerate the Glamorgan score striking Bopara for three consecutive fours, while Rudolph, who dropped anchor, reached his 50 off 45 balls.Goodwin followed Rudolph with his 50 from 29 balls and struck a straight six from the penultimate ball before holing out of the final delivery of the innings. But Goodwin and Rudolph’s good work was undone as Essex made a flying start to their reply. Ryder did not hold back as he swept Michael Hogan for six and then struck Andrew Salter over long on. Ryder struck three consecutive fours off Hogan as 19 came from the fifth over.Pettini was caught at mid-off off Allenby but it mattered little to Essex who got to more than halfway to their total with 13.2 overs remaining. Ryder holed out to Salter for 51, which came from only 28 balls with two sixes and six fours, but Essex’s strong batting line-up was always too good for their hosts.

Jim Allenby produced figures of 5 for 56 as Glamorgan had the better of the opening day of their County Championship Division Two clash with Essex at Swansea. The allrounder took three wickets in the space of five overs and then mopped up the tail as Essex lost their last six wickets for the addition of only 66 runs. Essex were bowled out for 286, with the main contributions coming from openers Tom Westley and Nick Browne, who made 60 and 73 respectively. In reply, Glamorgan finished the first day on 27 for one, 259 behind, having lost Will Bragg to a catch behind off Monty Panesar two overs from the close. That brought nightwatchman Andrew Salter to the middle. On a placid Swansea wicket, Essex chose to bat first and by lunch had reached a respectable 102 for 2. The mainstay of the early Essex batting was Westley, who celebrated a fresh two-year contract with an impressive half-century which came up off 62 balls and included 10 fours. His partner Browne was rather more watchful but he had to watch two wickets fall at the other end. Dean Cosker, the slow left-armer, was introduced into the attack in the 19th over and in his third over grabbed the breakthrough. He claimed the wicket of Westley, who was bowled attempting to sweep. He went for 60 from 79 balls to leave the visitors 79 for one. That became 91 for 2 when Cosker struck again to have dangerman Ravi Bopara caught by Allenby at slip for only 4. In the over before lunch Browne, on 31, survived a very confident lbw appeal after he padded up to a ball from Cosker. It took the introduction of spin from the pavilion end to earn Glamorgan their first bowling point when New Zealander Jesse Ryder was caught behind cutting off Andrew Salter’s opening over. From 126 for 3, Essex enjoyed a useful partnership of 70 between Browne and James Foster before three wickets fell for the addition of only 28 runs either side of tea.Foster, who on 35 had been lucky not to give a return catch to Harris, added only four more before the bowler had his revenge as the Essex captain edged a drive behind. Allenby struck twice in two overs, firstly ending Browne’s stay after he had reached 73 from 194 balls. He was caught by wicketkeeper Wallace, who also accounted for Graham Smith.Essex’s innings came to a rather quick end as Graham Napier miscued Allenby to Hogan at mid-off before the final three batsmen all went leg before. The wickets of Ryan ten Doeschate, out for 46, and Panesar, dismissed for a duck, gave Allenby his five-wicket haul.

Rest balance a challenge for Jordan

Chris Jordan has admitted he will have to find a way to adjust to periods of downtime when he is rested by England

Andrew McGlashan03-Aug-2014

Chris Jordan is hoping for another chance against India•generate

Chris Jordan has admitted he will have to find a way to adjust to periods of downtime when he is rested by England to ensure he gives himself the best chance of hitting the ground running when called upon.Jordan was brought back into the England side for the third Investec Test at the Ageas Bowl but went wicketless in the match. It followed a period since the second Test against Sri Lanka at Headingley – where he also failed to register a scalp – where he had played just two matches for Sussex in a month; a T20 against Kent and a Championship match against Warwickshire. As in the match against Warwickshire, where he impressed in the second innings with a three-wicket new-ball burst, Jordan said he felt more comfortable during the Test last week once he had got a few spells under his belt. His five overs in the second innings were his most probing of the match.”It is a tough balance, but at the end of the day that’s the job of international cricket. When you are around the squad you don’t always play and you don’t get that many windows to go back and play for your county,” he told ESPNcricinfo. “I’m the sort of the bowler who likes to stay in rhythm but if I want to be successful at this level I have to find a way of adjusting and make sure I’m in good stead when I do get a call.”However, although he struggled for consistency in the first innings – where he finished with none for 59 in 17 overs – Jordan said he never became down on himself.”Personally, in the first innings, I didn’t bowl as well as I would have liked but it was nothing I got too down about. I thought about it a bit and bowled a much better spell in the second innings.”Jordan’s Test career is just three matches old after his debut against Sri Lanka at Lord’s but he said it was “overwhelming” to secure a first victory as England levelled the series with their 266-run success at the Ageas Bowl.”To get the win the way we did was very special and a moment I’ll remember for a while. I felt that performance at Southampton had been building. We’d been getting close in previous matches but weren’t able to close it out but you couldn’t have asked for much more last week. We won every big moment of the game. But we need to stay grounded at Old Trafford, it was just one performance and we must back it up.”When he was not bowling at the Ageas Bowl, Jordan spent most of his time at slip – where he snaffled a superb catch off Moeen Ali to remove Cheteshwar Pujara in India’s second innings – so had one of the best views in the house to watch as James Anderson produced a Man-of-the-Match display. He is trying to soak in everything he can from England’s senior quicks to develop his own game.”I’ve learnt something in every game I’ve played, even just in the practice sessions. I just try to absorb as much as I can. I’m nowhere near the finished product but hopefully I’m not too far away.”Jordan’s chances of retaining his place for the fourth Test at Old Trafford may have improved with the news that Liam Plunkett has been ruled out with an ankle injury. He has fond memories of his last appearance at the ground when he helped skittle Sri Lanka for 67 in the one-day international earlier this season with figures of 5 for 29.”It was a wicket I really enjoyed in the ODI,” he said, “so if I get the nod I have good memories so hopefully it will be more of the same.”Chris Jordan is the official ambassador of Octopus Investments, one of the UK’s fastest growing retail fund management companies.
