Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas admitted his side “just didn’t turn up” after they were beaten by Surrey in the semi-final of the Friends Life t20 at Edgbaston.Hampshire, the champions in 2010 and 2012, struggled to an under par total of 142 before Surrey reached their target with four wickets in hand and four balls to spare. But though Hampshire’s bowlers donated nine wides, Mascarenhas put the blame for defeat squarely on the shoulders of his batsmen.”Our batters just didn’t bat well enough,” he said. “We just didn’t get enough runs. In T20, one mistake can kill you and we made a lot mistakes out there today. It’s hard to defend 140 in a semi-final. 160 was about par, but we lost three wickets in the first six overs and that cost us.”The result saw Surrey, who last won the trophy in 2003, qualify for their first T20 final since 2004.They made hard work of their modest chase, though. Despite little pressure from the run-rate, several of the batsmen picked out fielders in the deep – Glenn Maxwell, who found out long-off, and Jason Roy, who hit the ball straight to deep midwicket were particularly culpable – while Azhar Mahmood, turning like an oil tanker, was run-out having been sent back.Eventually Zander de Bruyn, with a calm innings of 41 off 40 balls, and Zafar Ansari, with an intelligent innings of 21 from 12 balls, took Surrey over the line in an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 33 in three overs. With 17 required from the final 11 balls, Ansari drove a straight six and then a straight four off the bowling of Chris Wood to all but seal the contest.The architects of the Surrey victory were their bowlers, though. Mahmood bowled his four overs for the cost of only nine runs and, having opened the innings with a maiden, did not concede a run until his 12th delivery.Hampshire, who did not score a run until the 10th ball of their innings, appeared rattled by the sluggish start and, in attempting to up the rate, lost three wickets in the first six overs to a variety of desperate strokes.Jade Dernbach, who claimed wickets with the final two deliveries of the quarter-final against Somerset, took another with his first in this game – James Vince missing a drive – and struck another big blow at the end of his first over when Neil McKenzie attempted to swing him into the leg side and was adjudged, perhaps a little harshly, leg before. Only Sean Ervine, who made 47, flourished for any length of time.”Our bowlers were outstanding,” Surrey’s stand-in captain Vikram Solanki said afterwards. “We put ourselves under pressure with the bat, but Ansari was brilliant.”

Cricket South Africa will host its first transformation ‘indaba’ (conference) in Johannesburg in more than a decade this weekend to review the progress of its ability to reach out to previously disadvantaged groups. The meeting will focus on the transformation policy and assess where it can improve in providing facilities, resources and access in previously disadvantaged communities, with particular emphasis to black African areas.The organisation admitted that in the past they, “might have been policy complaint without achieving real transformation” and there is evidence of such in the numbers. Since South Africa’s readmission in 1991, 81 players have played Test cricket, of which only five – Makhaya Ntini, Mfuneko Ngam, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Thami Tsolekile and Monde Zondeki – are black Africans.Last season was the first time a black African was in charge of a franchise. Geoffrey Toyana was appointed at the Lions and had a successful debut season winning the domestic T20 competition and sharing the one-day cup in 2012-13. In an attempt to increase representation, earlier this year, Linda Zondi, a former black African KwaZulu-Natal wicketkeeper, was appointed to the national selection panel.The indaba will focus on seven broad streams, including governance, procurement of goods/services and appointment of staff, professional cricket, amateur cricket, funding, transformation legacy/history, selection of teams/appointment of officials.”Transformation: ‘time to do the right thing’, will be the theme behind our indaba,” said CSA President Chris Nenzani. “”We should remind ourselves that it is also a constitutional imperative and we owe it to all the people of our country to make sure that the playing field is level for everyone. وأشارت صحيفة “عكاظ” السعودية إلى أن طارق حامد خرج من حسابات البرتغالي نونو سانتو، المدير الفني لاتحاد جدة، إذا نجحت الإدارة في ضم فابينيو.

Big PictureSunrisers Hyderabad make their Champions League debut on the back of some impressive performances during the qualification stage of the tournament. Led admirably by Shikhar Dhawan, they have shown to be deserving candidates for promotion with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Kandurata Maroons, and an equally convincing seven-wicket victory over Faisalabad Wolves to confirm their participation in the Champions League.Boasting some of the best T20 bowlers in the world, Trinidad & Tobago will be a significant challenge. They completed a 25-run win over the Brisbane Heat in the second match of the group stage, with Ravi Rampaul helping them defend 135 with 4 for 14. Their attack is well-balanced, with Sunil Narine, Samuel Badree and Rayad Emrit also capable of running through a line-up. Their batting may not be as strong as it could be, with the unavailability of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, but they still feature some fine internationals in Lendl Simmons, Darren Bravo and Denesh Ramdin.This could very well be a battle between two strong bowling attacks, so expect some middling scores in this contest. Dhawan has been in imperious form, but if he were to be nipped out early, it would be interesting to see how Sunrisers counteract. While their middle order was tested somewhat by Otago in their previous match, with JP Duminy stepping up with 57, there are still some questions to be answered in how well they can respond in a crisis. It will be interesting to see what tactics are drawn up by the opposition, who will need to find a way to get past him in order to expose an under-utilised Sunrisers middle order.With 47 wickets in the previous two IPL tournaments, Sunil Narine poses a significant threat. His record against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013 was rather mixed. He was ineffective in the home match against them, with figures of 1 for 31 in his four overs. In their next match, however, he produced a miserly spell of four overs for just 11 runs. With a solitary wicket in eight overs against them, Hyderabad will hope for their luck to continue.Quotes”The confidence is still high. O técnico Cuca será auxiliado por Vagner Mancini até o fim do Campeonato Paulista. Nesse período, Cuquinha, que será de fato o auxiliar-técnico do São Paulo na temporada, ficará apenas assistindo aos jogos (ou jogo) no estádio, sem estar no banco de reservas com o irmão.

O Tricolor Paulista enfrenta o Palmeiras, neste domingo, no Allianz Parque, pela semifinal do Paulistão. Qualquer vitória fará a equipe avançar à decisão. Nesse cenário, o mais otimista, seriam três jogos de Mancini como auxiliar de Cuca.

Após o término da disputa do estadual, Mancini voltará ao cargo de coordenador técnico do São Paulo, função para a qual foi contratado no começo de 2019.

Foram três vitórias, quatro empates e duas derrotas no período como treinador interino. Mancini assumiu o cargo interinamente depois da saída de André Jardini do comando técnico.

Paul Collingwood, the former England batsman, will begin his coaching education by taking up a post with Scotland over the winter.Collingwood recently led Durham to the Championship title and still has one year left on his contract but, rather than pursue T20 deals or media work in the off season, he will lend the experience of more than 200 limited-overs internationals to Scotland’s attempts to qualify for the World Twenty20 and World Cup.In addition to 68 Tests, Collingwood is England’s most-capped player in ODIs, with 197 appearances, and he also captained England to victory at the 2010 World T20. He could provide a valuable resource as the Associate nation tries to reach a global ICC tournament for the first time since 2009.The qualifier for the 2014 World T20 takes place in the UAE in November, with the qualifier for the 2015 World Cup following in New Zealand in January. Collingwood will play a full part in both the preparation and competition phases of both tournaments, working alongside Scotland’s head coach, Peter Steindl, and fielding coach/performance analyst Toby Bailey.In addition to Collingwood, Craig Wright, the current Under-19s coach and former Scotland captain, will join in the role of bowling coach.”Leading into two vital qualifying events, I was very keen to change things up a bit, add a couple of new voices to the coaching team and bring in coaches who had attained success at the very highest levels of the game,” Steindl said.”Paul has been part of successful teams as a player and a captain and it will be great to have his experience and knowledge on board. We identified Paul as a person we were very keen to secure and I am delighted he agreed to join us for the winter. I am sure he will be a hugely positive influence on the squad as we head into some really important cricket.”Collingwood, who has also played limited-overs cricket for teams in India, Australia and South Africa, added: ”I am very excited at the prospect of working with the Scotland squad over the coming months and look forward to helping the team qualify for both the World T20 and the 2015 World Cup.”Keith Oliver, chairman of Cricket Scotland said: ”Following discussions with Paul, we are convinced he will add real value to the coaching team and the playing squad. As a vastly experienced player and World Cup-winning captain , he will bring skills which will complement the existing team of coaches as we seek to qualify for two World Cups.”The Scotland team will leave for Sri Lanka on October 27 for a training camp before the World T20 qualifier starts, before arriving in Dubai on November 9. Scotland play two warm-up matches, against USA and Namibia before their first Group B game against Bermuda on November 15.
