Na semana passada, sob a alegação da necessidade de um ajuste para a Copa do Brasil, uma mudança na tabela do Campeonato Paulista fez com que Rodrigo Caio ficasse suspenso para enfrentar o Santos neste domingo. E nem adiantou um pedido do zagueiro para a diretoria do São Paulo tentar intervir: o regulamento da Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF) impede o zagueiro de estar no clássico.

O Regulamento Geral de Competições da FPF, que rege as regras em todos os torneios da entidade, é bem claro em parágrafo do artigo 54: “Se a partida subsequente ao recebimento do terceiro cartão amarelo for adiada, o cumprimento ocorrerá na partida imediatamente posterior”.

Foi exatamente isso que Rodrigo Caio ouviu ao procurar a diretoria para saber se seria possível alguma ação que o permitisse estar no San-São. Na semana passada, dirigentes até tentaram achar alguma brecha, mas não encontraram formas que liberassem o camisa 3.

O zagueiro virou vítima de um ajuste de tabelas. Rodrigo Caio recebeu o terceiro cartão amarelo contra o Bragantino, no dia 7, e seria desfalque diante do Ituano, em jogo previamente marcada para a última quinta-feira. Mas a CBF resolveu marcar o duelo entre São Paulo e CSA, pela Copa do Brasil, para essa quinta-feira, adiando o jogo contra o Ituano para a próxima semana. Assim, o gancho terá de ser cumprido no clássico do fim de semana.

– É uma tristeza porque quero sempre estar dentro de campo e sempre ajudando meu time. Infelizmente, não vou jogar porque uma mudança na tabela acabou prejudicando. Vida que segue. A suspensão do zagueiro é só uma das reclamações do São Paulo a respeito da mudança na tabela. Por ter atuado em Alagoas nessa quinta-feira, a comissão técnica alterou completamente a logística e terá somente sábado para treinar para o clássico. O fato foi bastante contestado por Dorival Júnior em sua entrevista coletiva após vencer o CSA.

Glasgow Rangers have been dealt a huge blow in their bid to bring goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to Ibrox this summer.

That’s according to a report by Football Insider, who claim that sources close to Johnstone have revealed that the shot-stopper wants to join Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on the expiration of his West Bromwich Albion contract at the end of the current campaign.

This is sure to come as a huge blow to Rangers, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst is looking at a replacement for Allan McGregor – who himself looks increasingly likely to be leaving Ibrox this summer.

The Light Blues have shown interest in the England international who has kept 15 clean sheets in 36 Championship matches so far this season as West Brom has struggled.

With the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Southampton all linked with the highly-rated stopper in recent weeks, it’s clear to see why missing out on Johnstone could send Rangers into panic mode.

A potential replacement for McGregor?

Allan McGregor has so often been the saviour for Rangers over the years, producing big moments and penalty saves exactly when the side needs them, but this campaign has looked like a step too far.

There have been far too many mistakes as the Ibrox side has slipped behind in the title race, and the keeper has cost the club a fair few points since January.

As such, signing Johnstone on a pre-contract would be an excellent move. With three caps for England and still just 29 years of age, Giovanni van Bronckhorst could do no wrong in making a move for the shot-stopper.

Indeed, with the ‘keeper having been omitted from West Brom’s previous two matchday squads due to his contract running down, Rangers are in as good of a position as any to offer him terms.

With a market value of £7.2m, any side that secures the services of the 29-year-old could also make a solid profit in the future if they decide to sell him on, making this move an absolute no-brainer.

After playing in the home series against South Africa this year, he now stands behind Suresh Raina and Cheteshwar Pujara in the fight for the No. 6 slot.It was Sourav Ganguly’s non-selection for the Irani Cup two years ago that eventually opened up a position in the fortress that India’s middle-order has been in recent years. That no one has since claimed that spot as his own only shows what a huge hole remains to be filled once the other three slots fall vacant.The Rest of India side is filled with batsmen who are potential Test candidates when the stalwarts currently occupying the Indian middle-order retire. While Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund had fine tours of England with the A team, Virat Kohli has become a regular member of the one-day squad and Saurabh Tiwary has also been a part of the senior squad for the past couple of ODI series.The captain, Yuvraj Singh, hasn’t hidden his disappointment at being axed from the Test side. Geoff Lawson, the former Australia fast bowler, has called for Ricky Ponting to be removed as captain so he can concentrate on his batting. Australia were beaten 2-0 by India in a Test series where Ponting’s tactics drew criticism from various quarters, including former team-mate Shane Warne. The seven-wicket loss in Bangalore was also Australia’s third in a row, prompting concerns ahead of the Ashes later in the year.”I mean he’s now lost five series, it may be time to say ‘look mate, we’ve got Michael Clarke ready to go with a nice fresh young mind, he can be the captain and you focus on your batting and try to restore yourself to the level we know you’re capable’,” Lawson told .Ponting notched up three half-centuries in four innings on the tour of India, his best returns in a series in the country. But Lawson claimed he could have done better. The Verdict: Big boost for Hoops

This is an enormous positive for Celtic, who missed Giakoumakis’ firepower in last weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Rangers at Hampden Park.

The Greek goal machine has averaged a goal  every 96 minutes for the Hoops this season, netting nine times in 16 league appearances, and a potentially tight game on Sunday could require him to take one chance with aplomb.

A win at Ross County would feel like another significant step towards the title and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the returning Giakoumakis be the match-winner.

That’s according to Football League World, who claim that the Yorkshire giants are now facing competition from Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur for the 18-year-old’s signature following his impressive breakthrough at Championship outfit Bristol City.

Earlier this month, the Mirror reported that both the Whites and Spurs had scouts in attendance of the Robin’s Good Friday clash with Stoke City, where the promising teenager played the full game at right wing-back.

He is thought to be valued at around £10m.

The next Jack Grealish?

The versatile talent is capable of playing in a variety of roles, including out wide as a wing-back or winger, though his best position is thought to be as a creative midfielder or no.10.

Born and signed from Guernsey, Scott has emerged as a key player for former Leicester City and Watford boss Nigel Pearson, having made 36 appearances in the second tier.

He has provided four goals and two assists from those matches, with the bulk coming from an attacking midfield position.

Given his sparkling form and capability to play wide and centrally, it’s no wonder the Bristol City gem has already earned plenty of comparisons to Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish, to who he is thought to be very similar to.

‘The Guernsey Grealish’ could be an intriguing option for Whites boss Jesse Marsch and the squad heading into next season and for just £10m, it could be quite the steal indeed.

Scott has more than held his own at Ashton Gate this term, ranking as Pearson’s seventh-best player in the Championship – an average of 1.6 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per game suggests he can do some defensive work, just as much as he likes to get forward, having also averaged 0.8 key passes and dribbles per outing too.

“Not only is he a very creative midfielder but he is incredibly hard-working, especially out of possession, and that’s one of his stand-out qualities,” claimed City’s player pathway manager Brian Tinnion to the BBC.

He also added in another interview: “His work rate and his desire to learn has been unbelievable.”

Whether Leeds will make their move for Scott this summer remains to be seen but the prospect of sealing the next Grealish-like talent for such a small figure should be too good to ignore.
